DECRYPTION - With six medals in 2016, the Blues had hit hard. Five years later, they won't be able to do as well.

Sport is not an exact science, but mathematics is. With only five qualified for the Olympics, the French boxing team already knew, before flying to Tokyo, that arithmetically speaking, it could not match the tremendous harvest achieved in Rio five years ago, with the six medals brought back by the famous “Team Solid”. At the time, the couple Tony Yoka and Estelle Mossely had cooed on the Cariocas rings by adorning themselves with gold, while Sarah Ourahmoune (silver), Sofiane Oumiha (silver), Mathieu Bauderlique (bronze) and captain Souleymane Cissokho ( bronze) came to give a historical character to the Brazilian countryside. That no one, including those concerned, had seen it coming.

"It was incredible, improbable and unexpected

," Ourahmoune remembers.

Frankly, we started out with the idea that doing three podiums would already be very satisfying.

But from there to doing such a great feat, by almost making a full blast, it was not possible
