New type of player in the Hertha storm: Jovetić follows Córdoba

Hertha BSC have signed striker Stevan Jovetić.

The 31-year-old Montenegrin was most recently under contract with AS Monaco.

Before that, he had played for Sevilla FC, Inter Milan, Manchester City and Fiorentina, among others.

His contract in Monaco expired at the end of the preseason and is free of charge.

At Hertha, Jovetić will sign a contract until 2023 plus an option, the Berlin Bundesliga club announced on Tuesday.

"I can hardly wait to get started right away and from the start I want to use my experience to do everything I can to help the team achieve their goals," Jovetić is quoted in a club statement.

"With Stevan we get a classic center player for the offensive, who brings a lot of experience from the top leagues in Europe," said Fredi Bobic, sports director at Hertha BSC.

A place had recently become free in the storm of Berlin after the Russian first division club FK Krasnodar signed center forward Jhon Córdoba from Hertha.

Compared to the Colombian, the 1.83-meter-tall Jovetić is a little less robust and has a strong header, but can also be used behind the front due to his skills in passing and dribbling.

With Davie Selke and Krzysztof Piątek, there are still two clear strikers in the Hertha BSC squad.

Permission from PSV: Malen trains with Dortmund

The move from Donyell Malen to Borussia Dortmund seems almost perfect.

On Tuesday morning, the Dutch international from PSV Eindhoven took part in the Bundesliga team's training for the first time in Bad Ragaz.

The 22-year-old is set to close the gap left by Jadon Sancho with his € 85 million transfer to Manchester United.

According to reports, the cup winner pays almost 30 million euros plus possible bonus payments for painting.

It should be a five-year contract.

However, Borussia has not yet officially confirmed the change.

“There is an official training permit from PSV.

There are still final details to be clarified between the player and Eindhoven, only then can we finally announce the transfer, ”said the club via Twitter.

Malen had arrived at the Borussia training camp in Switzerland on Sunday and had passed the medical check and the mandatory corona tests there.

The fast attacker comes with the recommendation of 27 goals this season and ten assists in 45 competitive games for Eindhoven.

The position he prefers in the attack center is, however, assigned to Erling Haaland at BVB.

Therefore, Malen will probably have to resort to the wings.

A second tip alongside Haaland would also be possible.

Manchester United face Varane signing

The move of the French world champion Raphaël Varane from Real Madrid to Manchester United is perfect according to media reports.

Accordingly, both clubs had agreed on a transfer of the defender.

The fee for the 28-year-old should be 50 million euros plus bonus payments, as the »Gazzetta dello Sport« reported.

According to Sky Sport News, Manchester paid £ 41m (around 48m euros) to Los Blancos, with whom Varane still has a contract until next summer.

The Madrilenians originally wanted a transfer of 80 million euros.

Varane, who has played in the Spanish Primera División since 2011, will receive a five-year contract with the Red Devils after passing the medical check.

After signing top talent Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Varane is the second top-class entry at the English record champions.

Aston Villa interested in Bailey

According to information from Sky, Leon Bailey is to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

As the broadcaster reported on Monday evening, Aston Villa is said to have made an offer to the Bundesliga club.

According to media reports, the English Premier League clubs Leicester City, Everton FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton FC were also interested in the Jamaican international.

The 23-year-old winger has been playing for the Werkself for four and a half years and came for € 13.5 million from the Belgian first division club KRC Genk.
