Slalom canoeist Ricarda Funk won the first German gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
In the kayak single, the 29-year-old prevailed at her Olympic premiere in the final ahead of defending champion Maialen Chourraut from Spain and the big favorite Jessica Fox (Australia).
For the German Canoe Association (DKV) it is the second slalom medal at these summer games after Sideris Tasiadis secured bronze on Monday.
