Four games from entering the coveted group stage, Monaco, 3rd in Ligue 1 last season, knows his opponent in the 3rd qualifying round for the Champions League.

Czech club Sparta Prague qualified on Wednesday night by beating Rapid Vienna 2-0 after a 2-1 loss in the first leg in Austria.

The Czechs won their qualification thanks to goals from Moberg-Karlsson (16th) on a penalty and Pesek at the end of the game (81st).

Vice-champion of the Czech Republic, 12 points behind Slavia Prague, Sparta was in the group of Lille in the Europa League, along with AC Milan and Celtic Glasgow last season.

On their lawn, Sparta had lost heavily 4-1 to the northern club at the end of October, before suffering another 2-1 defeat at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium in early December.

The Czechs were also beaten twice by the Rossoneri, 3-0 and 1-0, but had dominated Celtic Glasgow 4-1 twice.

Niko Kovac wanted to underline the good work of his players during the preparation, after the last friendly match.

The Principality's team will enter the competition on Tuesday 3 August in Prague.

The return match will be played at the Louis-II stadium on Tuesday August 10.

A busy schedule awaits ASM.

The first leg in Prague comes just three days before the match against FC Nantes, in the 2021-2022 Ligue 1 opening match, Friday August 6.

However, this programming has the advantage of giving Niko Kovac's men more recovery time for the second leg.

In the event of qualification against Sparta, the club of the Rock will have to still play a return trip of dams.

It will be against the winner of Genk - Shakhtar Donetsk or against that of Spartak Moscow - Benfica.

The posters will be decided in a draw scheduled for August 2.
