Peiting - After the World Cup is before the World Cup: At least that applies to Maximilian Glötzl and Markus Schweiger. The two former Peiters, who are now in professional ice hockey in the first and second German ice hockey league, belong to the 28-man squad of national coach Tobias Defender at the “Summer Challenge” of the U20 national team in Füssen, which begins today, Thursday.

In addition to numerous training units, a tournament with a total of four teams is on the program for the DEB selection. "It's a lot of fun to be back on the ice with the boys," said Schweiger happily, who has been training with the German young hopes at the federal base in Füssen since last Friday. Until next Saturday, three international matches against Slovakia (Thursday, 4 p.m.), the Czech Republic (Friday, 6:30 p.m.) and Denmark (Saturday, 2:30 p.m.) are on the program, but spectators are not allowed.
"I definitely want to build on the performance from the World Cup at the turn of the year and keep improving so that I can play an even bigger role in the team this year," said Schweiger.
He is confidently going into the "Summer Challenge", which is the starting shot of preparations for the next World Cup, which will again take place in Canada in December and January.
