Unusual scene in the B final of the coxless rowing two. After deviating from course, the French duo of the Turlan brothers finished

The Turlan brothers end their Tokyo Olympics on an unusual note.

Present in the B final, without a chance for a medal, the tricolor duo, in rowing, experienced a particular end of the race.

In the last few hundred meters, the brothers completely deviated from their starting line.

Having started at lane number 6, the French couple first sprinted behind the Belarusians before overtaking them from the right and finishing in row number 4. A special finish which did not in any way affect their result.

The French have always oscillated in the first three places in the first 1,500 meters.

Despite this sprint without tail or head, the Turlan brothers finished 3rd in the B final behind the Netherlands and Belarus.

Finishing in the middle of their opponents, the French did not run up against or hamper anyone and were therefore not disqualified.

The Sinkovic brothers in gold

A scene ultimately quite simple to explain.

With the fatigue accumulated during these Games, a simple small difference in pace between the two partners could have made them deviate from their initial trajectory without necessarily slowing them down.

In view of the images, the second rower, Thibaud Turlan, would have slightly changed his pace, bringing the tricolor pair two lanes further to the right.

With their 3rd place in the B final, the Blues therefore finished 9th in two without a coxswain.

In the A final, the Croatian brothers Sinkovic went for the gold medal ahead of the Romanian pair and the Danish pair.

It went much better last night with the French women with the silver medal in two lightweight sculls.
