A Spanish report today revealed a new development regarding the renewal of Argentine star Lionel Messi's contract with Barcelona.
Messi's contract expired last June, but he has not been officially renewed with the club yet.
According to the El Chiringuito program, if Messi signed with Barcelona, the Catalan team will have until the 31st of next August only to register the contract and make the player participate in the matches during the beginning of the season.
The program indicated that Barcelona's failure to register the contract with the League until that date will lead to the loss of Messi's participation in the matches until next January.
It was reported that there was an agreement to renew Messi's contract for 5 seasons, but Barcelona president Joan Laporta is waiting to obtain the green light from the League, which requests more transparent financial details regarding this long-term contract.
