2021-07-30T15:25:03.515Z

PARIS 2024 (8/14) - On August 8, at the closing of the Tokyo Olympics, Anne Hidalgo will receive the Olympic flag. The start of a crazy adventure that will lead in 2024 to the Olympic Games (July 26-August 11) and Paralympics (August 28-Sept 8).

Women represent 48.8% of athletes in Tokyo where, for the first time, delegations marched behind two standard bearers, a woman and a man, during the opening ceremony.

In 2024, the Olympic Games will be registered as the first Olympic Games of parity (with in particular an increase in mixed events, from 18 to 22).

"It's a first.

This has a strong societal impact.

It's also a little nod to history since, remember, in Paris in 1900, it was the first time that women competed at the Games.

They were 22 in 1900 (2%), they will be 5,250 in 2024 ”,

summarizes Jean-Philippe Gatien, director of sports for Paris 2024.
