South African swimmer Tatiana Schönemaker won her country's first gold by winning the 200m backstroke at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
Sky News reported that Shonemaker won the race with a new world record, leaving the silver medal to American Lily King, while the bronze went to American Anne Lazur.
The Olympic Games are held amid strict precautionary measures, for fear of the spread of the Corona virus among the players and attendees.
