Alexander Zverev has reached the Olympic tennis final.
The German number one defeated world number one Novak Djokovic in the semifinals after an outstanding performance 1: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 1.
In the match for the gold medal, Zverev meets the Russian Karen Khachanov, who won his semifinals against the Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta 6: 3, 6: 3.
The Olympic victory would be the greatest success in Zverev's career.
The Serb went into the tournament as the top favorite, this season he had already won the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon and in a few weeks he can crown himself only the third player with a success at the US Open, the all four Grand -Slam tournaments can win in one season.
With the gold medal in Tokyo, he would also have had the chance of the Golden Slam; only Steffi Graf had won the Grand Slam plus Olympic victory in one year in 1988.
