Huge trade in the NBA just before the 2021 draft: Russell Westbrook moves to the Lakers, joining LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the Los Angeles constellation.

The veteran quarterback asked the Wizards to trade him, and got what he wanted when he returned to his hometown and got a chance to win the championship with LeBron and AD.

Washington will receive in return Kyle Kozma, Montreux Harle, Cantabius Caldwell Pop and the 22nd pick in tonight's draft.

In addition, as part of the trade, Washington will also transfer to the Lakers future elections in the 2024 and 2028 drafts.

With the signing of the 33-year-old Westbrook, the Lakers got the star they wanted as part of the league’s All-Star Armament War, and can now field their own trio of superstars, an answer to Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn.

The Lakers were simultaneously negotiating with Sacramento over a trade that could have sent Buddy the Boy to LA, but ultimately preferred the deal to Westbrook, who would replace Dennis Schroeder as the lead coordinator on the roster.

Washington, for its part, hopes the deal will pave the way for a new contract for the team's second star, Bradley Bill. According to reports in the United States, Bill has sent positive messages to the Wizards regarding his future at the club, and now after the transfer of Westbrook he will be able to get a maximum super-max contract, and the team will have the flexibility needed to sign quality players alongside him.

The first player on target is probably Spencer Dinwidi. According to reports in the United States, Kyle Kozma and Montreux Harrell, who were transferred to the Wizards as part of the Lakers' deal, may move to Brooklyn as part of another deal that will eventually turn into a senior Washington coordinator.

The United States is convinced that the Westbrook trade signals the Wizards' positive intentions regarding Danny Abdia, who may be given more opportunities to touch the ball in the absence of the dominant quarterback.

Veteran commentator David Aldridge tweeted that "the Westbrook deal changes all the rules of the game for Washington. It gives it future flexibility, a host of solid veteran players, and should help bring out Danny Abdia's potential as a secondary ball carrier and playmaker."
