Positive doping test - sprinter from Nigeria suspended shortly before the 100-meter semifinals

02.07 a.m.:

A few hours before the Olympic 100-meter final, the Nigerian Blessing Okagbare tested positive for doping and was banned for the time being.

This was announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit of the world association Word Athletics.

According to this, growth hormone was detected in the 32-year-old during a training check on July 19.

The result was only available on Friday, so Okagbare could still contest the preliminary run.

There she was the fastest athlete of her run.

The final over the 100 meters will take place at 2:50 p.m.

British win mixed triathlon

1:58 a.m.:

Great Britain won the Olympic premiere of the mixed triathlon and thus also won a medal in the third triathlon competition in Tokyo. The USA won silver, top favorite France had to be content with bronze. The British were clearly in the lead for a long time, but on the final lap the French final athlete Vincent Luis even overtook British Alex Yee with an outstanding performance on the bike. But Luis didn't have a chance in running.

The German relay of Laura Lindemann, Jonas Schomburg, Anabel Knoll and Justus Nieschlag stayed in the top group for a while and finished in sixth 59 seconds behind Great Britain.

In the mixed triathlon, every athlete had to swim 300 meters, cycle 6.8 kilometers and run two kilometers.

Georgia Taylor-Brown and Yee have already won silver in the singles for Great Britain, gold went to Flora Duffy (Bermuda) and Kristian Blummenfelt (Norway).
