The German mixed relay over 4x400 meters can now start in the Olympic final.
As a spokesman for the German Athletics Association (DLV) announced on Saturday in Tokyo, the quartet is moving up as the ninth team.
The final will take place on Saturday (2.35 p.m. CEST).
The German quartet first ran into the final on Friday because the USA and the Dominican Republic had been disqualified.
Because the jury withdrew the disqualifications, the relay only finished ninth and was therefore out.
The DLV protested against it - and was successful in the end, the final will now be held on nine lanes.
The association announced.
Protested in the final
DLV board member Idriss Gonschinska had previously announced that a second protest had been submitted.
“We have two clear rule violations.
The relay handover to the US team was outside the transition area.
There has been a line-up error in the Dominican Republic, ”he also said.
Marvin Schlegel, Corinna Schwab, Ruth Sophia Spelmeyer-Preuß and Manuel Sanders finished fifth in the second heat on Friday after 3: 12.94 minutes.
The time is considered the best German performance, there is no official record here.
The previous best time was 3: 16.85 minutes for Yokohama 2019.
