The women's saber team, beaten 45-41 in the final by Russia, finished in silver. 19th medal for the French clan!

The sixth medal of the day is in silver for the French clan.

After the feat of the Blues in team judo, France fell on stronger than it during the women's team saber event.

Manon Brunet, Charlotte Lembach, Cécilia Berder and Sara Balzer bowed to the representatives of the Russian Olympic Committee, composed in particular of Sofia Pozdniakova and Sofya Velikaya, respectively gold and silver medalists in the individual event.

The French had a good start and led by 6 touches after another big stint from Manon Brunet (20-14).

Behind, Charlotte Lembach collected a delicate 11-4 against Olga Nikitina.

Cécilia Berder tried everything to come back at the end of the match, but the Bleues finally gave in 45-41.

First medal for the women's team saber

Individual bronze medalist, Manon Brunet permanently erases the unfortunate memory of Rio, where she finished 4th, and was eliminated in the quarter-finals in the team competition.

The French women's saber team had never been a medalist at the Olympic Games.
