The eventing cross-country test was overshadowed by the death of a horse.
The 14-year-old gelding Jet Set of the Swiss Robin Godel had to be put to sleep on Sunday, as the organizers announced a few hours after the competition.
The horse had injured its leg at a water hazard and was taken to a veterinary clinic by ambulance.
There an irreparable torn ligament was found directly above the hoof during an ultrasound examination.
With the consent of the owner and the rider, it was decided to euthanize the gelding.
