Olympic gold for Alexander Zverev: No German man has ever succeeded

Alexander Zverev is an Olympic champion.
The German number one prevailed in the final in Tokyo against the Russian Karen Khachanov 6: 3 and 6: 1.
It is Zverev's greatest triumph - and the first German individual Olympic victory in tennis since Steffi Graf in 1988. One man did not succeed in that before, Tommy Haas won silver in Sydney in 2000.
The silver medal is also his greatest success to date for Khachanov, who is 20 places behind Zverev in the world rankings and has never made it past the quarter-finals in Grand Slam tournaments.
