Between them, they won twelve medals. Back on the journey of Caeleb Dressel and Emma McKeon in Tokyo.

If the French struggled during the swimming events, with only one medal finally won by Florent Manaudou in the 50m freestyle, some swimmers shone like Caeleb Dressel in the men and Emma McKeon in the women.

Back on their incredible results at the Tokyo Games.

Caeleb Dressel, the overwhelming domination

100m freestyle, 100m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay and 4x100 medley relay: Dressel was invincible throughout the competition.

He also took the opportunity to improve two world records: the one he already held in the 100 m butterfly, in 49 ″ 45 and that of the 4 x 100 m medley relay with his American compatriots, to which he largely contributed (3 ′ 26′'78).

The only downside is his 5th place in the mixed 4x100m medley relay.

At only 24 years old, the American is making a little more impact on world swimming history, having already won 13 times at the World Championships.

So far, only two swimmers had done better than him in a single edition of the Olympic Games.

Mark Spitz between 1972 had won seven medals, then Michael Phelps, with 6 and 8 medals respectively in 2004 and 2008.

Emma McKeon, the consecration

The other star of these Games in swimming is Emma McKeon.

The Australian does even better than Caleb Dressel in terms of medals, securing four titles and three bronze medals.

Sacred over 50 m freestyle, 100 m freestyle, 4 x 100 m freestyle and 4 x 100 m medley, she also collects three bronze charms, on 100 m butterfly, 4 x 200 m freestyle and 4 x 100 4 mixed swims.

So far, the 27-year-old Australian has had just two Olympic medals, with gold in the 4 x 100m and bronze in the 200m freestyle in 2016 in Rio.

Here she becomes the most medal-winning swimmer in history for the same edition.

And also…

Australia has definitely marked the Tokyo aquatic center with its talent.

Alongside Emma McKeon, Ariarne Titmus shone.

She won four medals, two of which were gold in the 200m and 400m freestyle, silver in the 800m freestyle and bronze in the 4x200m relay.

Above all, the 20-year-old swimmer gave herself the luxury of beating Katie Ledecky, favorite but dethroned in the 400m.

And then, another competitor impressed the spirits in Japan: the Tunisian Ahmed Hafnaoui.

At 18, the 400m freestyle specialist offers himself a surprise title, qualifying for the final with the 8th fastest time.

Until now, he had never been on an international podium.
