Quentin Bigot got off to a perfect start to his Olympic Games.
With the 4th throw of the series at 78.73m, the Frenchman qualified for the hammer throw final without any problem.
The vice-world champion ensured his qualification from his first try.
The tricolor thrower will be able to aim for a medal in the final scheduled for Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. French time.
They are only five to have exceeded 78 m.

Still in athletics, the very young French Gémima Joseph also pulled out of the heats to climb into the 200m half.
Third in her race in 22′'94, the European junior vice-champion in 2019 fulfilled her goal and could create a surprise by obtaining her ticket for the final on Monday from 2:25 pm.

If athletics achieves a 100%, this is not the case for canoeing.
In K2 500m, Manon Hostens and Sarah Guyot finished second in their series and qualified directly for the semi-finals.
Another qualifier for men, in K1 1000m, Etienne Hubert climbed to the semifinals after going through the repechage.
