Big disappointment for Koumba Larroque, released in the first round in the fight in -68 kg. It passes for Quentin Bigot in hammer throw and

The tricolor night was rather calm this Monday until the surprise defeat of Koumba Larroque.

The French wrestler, who was aiming for a medal in Tokyo, was surprised as soon as she entered the competition in -68 kg.

In athletics, the vice-world champion in hammer throw Quentin Bigot and the very young sprinter Gémima Joseph pulled out of the heats without too much trouble.

On the other hand, it was more complicated in canoeing and table tennis.

We summarize the essentials of the night in Tokyo.

The Larroque disappointment

Koumba Larroque came for the gold but the adventure ended in the first round.

The tricolor wrestler was surprised for her entry into the running in -68 kg, in the round of 16, by the Mongolian Battsetseg Soronzonbold.

The Frenchwoman however mastered her fight perfectly, leading 3-0 (two exits from the mat, one point of non-combativeness), before being knocked down by her opponent 19 seconds from the end.

A fall synonymous with defeat for Larroque.

🤼😰 In search of an Olympic medal, wrestler 🇫🇷 Koumba Larroque lost to 🇲🇳 Battsetseg Soronzonbold in the knockout stages of the 68 kg on a pinfall.

What disillusionment!

“I was hyperstressed.

I had not slept all night but I was still ready, ”lamented the Frenchwoman, still in shock, after her fight.

Last possibility for Laroque to go get a medal.

Her opponent of the day must eliminate Nigerian Blessing Oborududu in the semi-finals.

The Frenchwoman will then go into repechage.

The handball players at the quarterfinal meeting

They had no room for error but the French women's handball team will see the quarterfinals.

After a difficult start to the tournament with a defeat against Spain and a draw against Sweden, the Habs climbed to the quarter-final thanks to an easy victory against Brazil (29-22).

A complete match for the players of Olivier Krumbholz, in particular the goalkeeper Cléopâtre Darleux with 9 saves.

The recent vice-champions of Europe will know their opponents in the quarterfinals later in the morning.

🇫🇷 Les Bleues qualified for the quarter-finals 🎉 🤾

If athletics achieves a 100%, this is not the case for canoeing.

In K2 500m, Manon Hostens and Sarah Guyot finished second in their series and qualified directly for the semi-finals.

Another qualifier for men, in K1 1000m, Etienne Hubert climbed to the semifinals after going through the repechage.

However, the adventure ends there for Guillaume Burger, already eliminated in the same event.

Same observation in K1 200 m, Léa Jamelot and Vanina Paoletti were left in the quarterfinals.

On the table tennis side, the French table tennis players failed to create the feat against Singapore.

The Blue were eliminated sharply from the 1/16 round in three sets (6-11, 5-11, 11-13).

It may be even harder for the men against China in the quarter-finals from 12:30 p.m.

Camacho-Quinn, queen of the 100m hurdles

The new boss of the 100m hurdles is called Camacho-Quinn.

The Puerto Rican, who had already impressed in 1/2 with the new Olympic record, took the gold in 12 ″ 37 in front of the American Kendra Harrison (12 ″ 52) and the Jamaican Megan Tapper (12 ″ 55 ).

This is the first gold charm in Puerto Rican history in athletics, the second in all events after the coronation of Mónica Puig in tennis in Rio.

🇵🇷 The Puerto Rican Jasmine Camacho-Quinn crowned Olympic champion.

🥇 With a time of 12.36, she is ahead of American Kendra Harrison and Jamaican Britany Anderson.

The nice surprise came from the length where the Greek Miltiadis Tentoglou was crowned with a jump to 8.41m, perfectly tied with the Cuban Juan Miguel Echevarria. With a better second jump (6 small centimeters better), the best performer of the year offers Greece their second gold medal in Tokyo. Note the 5th place for JuVaughn Harrison, after having already finished in 7th place… From the height.
