It had been in the air for some time, as we wrote at the end of May, it is now official.
Peter Sagan, triple world champion, winner of the Tour of Flanders (2016) and Paris-Roubaix (2018), signs with TotalEnergies for the next two seasons (2022-2023).
At 31, the Slovakian does not arrive alone in the Vendée team since he will be accompanied by two of his teammates at Bora-Hansgrohe, two rollers, the Italian Daniel Oss and the Pole Maciej Bodnar.
"An incredible pride"
TotalÉnergies has dreamed of major success for several years.
In 2019, the team recruited the Dutchman Niki Terpstra, winner of Paris-Roubaix 2014 and the Tour of Flanders 2018 but without much success so far.
Seven-time winner of the green jersey of the Tour de France, and with 117 professional victories to his credit, Peter Sagan could well be the one who will raise his arms on a prestigious finish line.
It remains to be seen in what state of form he will join training in the next offseason.
It is with great pride that Team TotalEnergies announces the signing of @petosagan for two seasons.

Jean-René Bernaudeau, the team manager, does not hide his desire to change dimension with this flashy transfer window: “Recruiting Peter is obviously an incredible source of pride.
He is undoubtedly the most popular runner in the world, he is an exceptional talent, he makes us change dimension.
Peter will be a key part of our system on the Classics and the Tour.
"
These three arrivals are also accompanied by a change of bicycle supplier, for the French team, since the Californian brand Specialized will now supply TotalEnergies.
