Tokyo / Unterhaching - Lukas Dauser celebrated the greatest success of his career with the silver medal on parallel bars at the Olympic Games in Tokyo - and let it rip. Dauser climbed onto the parallel bars with the German flag in hand and stood on the two spars, cheering. "Then all of a sudden the flag came in and I thought to myself, now I'll go on the bars because I just wanted a cool picture," said the 28-year-old with a mischievous grin.

With an excellent performance yesterday, at the end of the gymnastics competitions at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Unterhachinger sensationally won the silver medal on his special bar.

He screamed out his joy immediately after leaving.

With 15,700 points, the 28-year-old was only beaten by the Chinese Jingyuan Zou (16,233).

Third was Ferhat Arican from Turkey with 15.633 points.

“I haven't really realized that yet.

It's kind of like everything in the movie, ”said the athlete.

"It's unbelievable, I still can't really describe in words what it means to me, because it's just beating down on me."

In Unterhaching, Dauser's companions cheered in front of the television.

“It couldn't have been more exciting, as Lukas was again last in line, like at the World Championships in Stuttgart.

Unfortunately, at the World Cup, he had to get off the machine once, which cost him a medal at the time, ”remembers Oskar Paulicks, head of gymnastics department at TSV Unterhaching.

This time, however, Dauser showed strong nerves, obviously coped well with the Stuttgart mishap and was not impressed by the sometimes excellent performances of the rest of the competition.

"He did a perfect gymnastics, did not allow himself a single mistake and also made the exit in a safe position," Paulicks analyzed at home in Unterhaching.

Most recently, Dauser's Unterhachinger club colleague Marcel Nguyen also won silver bars at the 2012 Games in London.

Paulicks didn’t forget Dauser's companion at TSV Unterhaching either: “Many thanks also to everyone who has accompanied our Olympic athletes on the long journey for many years and thus made a large contribution to these great successes,” said Paulicks.

With his convincing exercise, Dauser also prevented the German Gymnastics Federation from having to leave Tokyo without a medal.

"We're all happy, it's very important for our team, for Germany, for everyone," said Olympic trainer Valeri Belenki after taking a selfie with his silver protégé.
