No surprise in the controversy surrounding the disqualification of Mourad Aliev.
If the French boxer officially appealed his decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the latter rejected on Tuesday the request for a review of disqualification supported the day before by the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) and the Federation. French Boxing (FFB).
In their letter, the CNOSF and the FFB contested the disqualification of Mourad Aliev because of the behavior of the fight referee who "had not complied with the sanction procedure provided for in the regulations", according to a statement from the CNOSF.

The French boxer (+91 kg) was disqualified by arbitration decision in the second round of his quarter-final, against Briton Fraser Clarke.
During the fight, his opponent had to receive treatment twice for the left brow bone, which led the referee to sanction the Frenchman.
A decision experienced as an injustice, because he dominated the fight after a given first round winning 3 judges to 2.
Video assistance claimed for 2024
"Mourad Aliev requests the cancellation" of this disqualification, and "the authorization to resume the fight from the beginning of the second round, with a different referee and judges", had explained the CAS at the time of the appeal.
An insufficient measure to hope to find the rings.
"With a view to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the CNOSF will support the establishment of video assistance on boxing matches", warns the National Olympic Committee, which assures the French boxer of "its support".
Not sure that this is enough to console Murad Aliev.
