Tuesday, the track cycling team composed of Florian Grengbo, Rayan Helal and Sébastien Vigier, contributed to the spoils of the French distinctions, with the addition of a bronze medal, won against Australia in the speed.
This Wednesday, athletics should shine with Kevin Mayer's entry into the decathlon, completed by two men's finals including the discus throw.
Overview of the program and the new chances for French medals.
Kevin Mayer, track decathlon record holder
After Renaud Lavillenie's sad final on Tuesday in the pole vault, with a competition gangrened by an injury to the left heel contracted during a jump in training, French athletics hopes to find a smile again. Why not with Kevin Mayer, world record holder in the decathlon. He has the ambition to do better than in Rio in 2016 where he won the silver. The events will start at 2 a.m., in the following order: 100 m, long jump and shot put. A generous menu, and a status to assume for Kevin Mayer often bothered by physical problems lately (foot, back). Hope this is all behind him!
🏃❌ No miracle for Renaud Lavillenie who does not manage to pass the 5.92 m!
There will be no third Olympic medal for Auvergnat, too physically impaired to fight #JeuxOlympiques # Tokyo2020

Another potential medal for the French clan, that of Quentin Bigot with the hammer.
The young dad is aiming for a podium.
In athletics we will also follow over 800 m Gabriel Trual.
And in the 110m hurdles, Pascal Martinot Lagarde and Aurel Manga will defend their place for a future final.
Chanourdie and Jaubert take on the women's climbing combined
The French climbers have proven that climbing has its place at the Olympics.
The two brothers, Bassa and Mickaël Mawem, blew us away yesterday with their performance on the combined.
They respectively finished in 1st and 7th place in this event and qualify for the final which will take place on Thursday.
This Wednesday, it is the turn of the women to play acrobats and to blow us away.
In the same way as for the brothers this Tuesday, climbers Julia Chanourdie and Anouck Jaubert will start with speed, then bouldering, and they will finish on the difficulty test.
🇫🇷🧗 It smells good for our French!
Mickaël Mawem finished 1st in the bouldering event, he took the lead in the general classification🔝 Bassa Mawem, his brother, was 3rd.
You have to be part of the top 8 to reach the final.

The sprint canoe-kayak series
The results have been little disappointing so far but the kayakers will have the opportunity to do better.
Manon Hostens and Sarah Guyot finished 7th in the two-seater 500m final.
The first will try to move up the standings, this time with an individual race over 500 m.
Same thing for Etienne Hubert, positioned in 6th place in the 1000m in men's single-seater, he was excluded from the semi-final, but will have the opportunity to catch up on the second series of the 1000m in two-seater with his teammate. Guillaume Burger.
Maxime Beaumont, meanwhile, will take his place in his single-seater kayak over 200 m.

Also to watch
The skateboarding “Park” event begins this Wednesday with the Landaise Madeleine Larcheron, the youngest member of the French delegation who will perform “runs”, aerial figures in an empty pool, in 45 seconds maximum.
In freestyle wrestling, Mathilde Riviere will enter the competition in the category of (-57 kg).
Fight to follow from 4 am.
A few hours later, it is Alaïs Kalonji who should impress us with his high-flying 10m dive.
The two female windsurfers, Camille Lecointre and Aloïse Retornaz could well afford a medal at the end of the Medal Race.
They are in any case well placed.
Top start at 8:33 am.
In the second part of the day, the women's handball and basketball quarter-finals.
Les Bleues du handball will face the Netherlands at 1:45 p.m., while the basketball players will face Spain (2 p.m.).
As a reminder, the latter had been beaten by the Americans, but still have the honor of tasting the quarter-finals of Tokyo thanks to only 11 points away from their previous opponents (93-82).
