Wolfratshausen - Even if the end of the season was more like a punch and jump, the men 30 of the STC Oberland can still cheer: Despite a 4-5 defeat in the catch-up game at HC Wacker Munich, the team has won the championship in the state league and is climbing into the Bayernliga. "It was actually very unpleasant how it went in the end," reported Chris Hahn.

Francesco Picco is nominated

The dilemma began two weeks ago when the two direct opponents first met for promotion.

The match had to be canceled before the start of the double encounters due to a thunderstorm.

It was disputed whether both teams would have to compete with the same line-up for the catch-up date or not - the association decided on “no”.

Thus, the STC nominated the previously missing Francesco Picco instead of the privately prevented Christoph Schramm.

“Wacker had also repositioned itself,” reported the press spokesman.

However, the Munich team had apparently lost the overview, because double 1 suddenly came up in position 2.

Actually a reason for a disqualification, "but we didn't want to win that way," said Chris Hahn.

Wacker's violation of the rules is ignored

So the rule violation was generously ignored.

Thanks to loud fan support, things went well for the STC on the pitch.

Picco / Sören Nassner, Andreas Schneider / Philipp Henrich and also Hahn with Ruben Haug each took the first set.

When the press spokesman and his doubles partner lost in the second round, things got tricky for a short time.

Especially since Hahn / Haug did not find their rhythm in the third movement either and lost with 3:10.

But when the cheers of the other STC players echoed from the neighboring fields, it was clear that the title win was perfect.

“It's annoying that we made the last sentence so clearly.

But by then the concentration had probably already waned, ”said Hahn.

Association investigates game cancellation

However, the ascent is not yet completely dry.

On the sidelines of the talks with the Bavarian Tennis Association about the current catch-up date, it transpired that the BTV game committee would like to investigate an earlier game cancellation.

On July 17th, the STC drove to Landshut, although the Lower Bavarians had already signaled that they could not provide a team capable of playing.

The points were then credited to the guests;

however, the association sees a kind of distortion of competition here.

"We are not aware of any guilt," stresses Chris Hahn.

That's why they just had a spontaneous championship celebration on Saturday - regardless of all the adversities that could come.
