The French qualified this Thursday for the final of the Tokyo Olympics karate tournament in the -67 kg category by beating Darkhan Assadilov (5-2).
The Kazakh, first in group A, world number one in the -60 kg category, had so far recorded four victories in four fights.
Steven Da Costa will play his final at 8:40 p.m. Tokyo time (1:40 p.m. in France) for the 26th medal of the Tricolor clan in these Tokyo Games.

Karate made its first Olympic appearance in Tokyo. It will no longer be on the program in 2024 in Paris. The categories have been grouped together and Thursday's event brings together fighters who usually evolve either in -67 kg or -60 kg.
