Tokyo, SANA- Karate player Gianna Farouk secured a fourth medal for Egypt in the Tokyo Olympics after qualifying for the semi-finals.

Karate player Gianna Farouk secured a fourth medal for Egypt in the Tokyo Olympics, after qualifying for the semi-finals of the 61 kg weight class.

The 26-year-old Gianna scored three consecutive victories in the group stage over Peruvian Alexandra Vanessa Grande Risco 2-0 with two hits "Yoko", then over Ukrainian Anita Serogina 2-1 and Moroccan Ibtisam Sedini 5-0.

Giana has one match left in this round with Serbian Jovana Perkovic to determine the top of the group.

The champion and runner-up of each group qualifies for the semi-finals, where they guarantee at least a bronze medal, while the two finalists compete for the gold.

Egypt won three bronze medals in the current Olympic Games through Seif Issa in the 80 kilogram weight, Hedaya Malak in the 57 kilogram weight in Taekwondo and Mohamed El-Sayed Ibrahim in the Roman wrestling in the weight of 67 kilograms.
