The superb rescue of Amandine Leynaud
For the last match of her international career, Amandine Leynaud was ready to give her body to the cause. Thus, on a Russian numerical superiority in the first period, the goalkeeper gave way to a partner in attack. But on an adverse recovery, it was in disaster, after a sprint and an improbable rescue, that she managed to narrowly deflect a shot which took the direction of her empty goal. Except that carried away by her momentum, the goalkeeper then came to fit into one of the signs adjoining the field, her right leg crossing it. That is exactly what happened to volleyball player Earvin Ngapeth a few days ago. Fortunately, even though she winced, Leynaud was able to return to her seat afterwards.
