In appreciation of his achievement in the Tokyo Olympics and raising the Syrian flag in one of the largest sports forums, the Olympic champion Maan Asaad, the holder of the bronze weightlifting over 109 kg, was honored today in Al-Jalaa Sports City in Damascus, with an official, athlete and media presence.

Mrs. Manal Al-Assad, Honorary President of the Equestrian Federation, awarded Maan Asaad the Sports Medal presented by the Syrian Olympic Committee, in addition to a material honor by the General Sports Federation for both champion Maan Asaad and his coach, Qais Asaad, at an amount of 25 million Syrian pounds. He was also presented with a shield from the Union of Journalists.

Mrs. Manal Al-Assad stressed the importance of the achievement made by the weightlifter Asaad and bringing joy to the hearts of the Syrians, along with many athletes who made important achievements, especially in the difficult circumstances that our country is going through, praising the great efforts made by the athletes to reach the world championships as a Syrian table tennis player Hind Zaza The youngest athlete in the Tokyo Olympics, expressing her hope that Syrian athletes will achieve more remarkable results in the coming days.

For his part, the Olympic champion Asaad affirmed that this achievement is very important for the Syrian sport and constitutes an incentive for him to prepare for the upcoming Olympic merit. Among the heavy weights that witness strong competitions and qualitative participation of the world champions, expressing his thanks and appreciation to all Syrians and the warm reception and honor that “hold me a double responsibility to achieve medals and achievements in the upcoming tournaments.”

The head of the Weightlifting Federation Hassanein Al-Sheikh explained that the medal won by the weightlifter Maan Asaad is of great importance because it came after great suffering in the difficult circumstances that our country is going through, to draw a smile on the faces of the Syrians, pointing out that our hero outperformed thirteen lifters of the best quadruplets in the world and recorded the name of Syria In the Olympic records in weightlifting.

The father of the champion, Abdel Moeen Asaad, expressed his hope that his son would achieve gold in the Paris 2024 Olympics, and that we would celebrate the great achievement in this place.
