We must thank him for the enormous effort to organize these Games, with all the uncertainty of this time. It has been a safe event, in which we have felt the sport again

The Olympic Games have come to an end and leave a huge void for all sports fans.

His legacy will inspire us with precious memories and the illusion to meet the next appointment.

First of all, Japan must be thanked for the enormous effort in organizing this event.

After being forced to postpone its celebration, with all the uncertainty of this time, they have taken the courageous and necessary decision to organize a Games without an audience in a responsible way.

It has been a safe event in which we have once again felt the excitement for the sport.

The wait was long, but it was worth it.

We must also thank all the athletes and their technical teams for all the effort made during these five years.

It is a job that is not normally seen, marked by perseverance and enthusiasm, to perform in competition.

Regardless of the result, we have seen many examples of athletes who never lowered their arms.

There is no better representation of the Olympic spirit.

I would like to pay a small tribute to all the Spanish athletes who achieved the great dream of giving the country a medal.

You will be the ones who feel the greatest pride in what has been achieved.

But believe me, we have cried with joy living their triumphs as our own.

Of course, I did not want to say goodbye to these Games without giving value to the rest of the Spanish athletes, for their professionalism and for the effort they have made to arrive at such a special appointment.

We left without medals, but leaving Tokyo at the top of the podium in terms of personal improvement.

Congratulations to all, being there is already a success.

Some of us will not return to the following, but I am sure that something will not change in those who go to Paris 2024: leaving the skin will continue to be the most honest way of trying to achieve the objectives.

Thanks, Spain!
