It was to be one of the strong images of the symbolic transmission of the Olympic torch between Tokyo and Paris this Sunday, but the weather wanted it otherwise.
The city of Paris had seen the big picture to show the whole world that the capital was ready to take up the challenge of the organization of the 2024 Olympics, by deploying on the top of the Eiffel Tower in particular, a huge flag of 5,800 m2 representing the Paris 2024 logo drawn above the Olympic rings.

A grandiose image that the Parisians, massed by the thousands at the Trocadero for a big party dedicated to the Olympics in the presence of many medalists (Teddy Riner, Clarisse Agbegnenou, Kevin Mayer, Florent Manaudou in particular) could not savor.
Despite the good weather reigning over the city, the banner could not be deployed on the "Iron Lady" because of the too strong wind blowing at the top, the municipality confirmed to us.
Last June, however, a full-scale test was successfully carried out.
Hanging from the monument, a gigantic flag had flown in the air for a few minutes to the surprise of Parisians.
This one had not been decorated with the Olympic symbols but with mysterious initials.
The organizers had even planned a whole integrated air blowing system to ensure that the canvas flutters in the air even if the wind had not been there.
But no solution had been considered in the event of too strong gusts ...

It is therefore in front of an Eiffel Tower with the usual appearance that the Patrouille de France made its flight, covering the sky with magnificent blue, white and red smoke.
A superb show interspersed with scenes of public jubilation celebrating the passing of the baton with the Olympic medalists at the Trocadero.
