The closing ceremony of the Tokyo Summer Olympics was held today at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan.
In front of almost empty stands due to Corona restrictions, dancing and other sports performances were presented near some of the athletes who gathered on the grass, with the aim of providing a different experience for the athletes who spent most of the time throughout the session in their rooms or in the competition and championship halls.
The closing ceremony came against the expectations and plans of the organizers, who wanted the tournament to be a symbol of the world's victory over the pandemic, but the event was held without an audience, amid an increase in the number of infections.
During the ceremony, Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, whose city will host the next Summer Olympics in 2024, received the Olympic flag from Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike through IOC President Thomas Bach, who officially announced the conclusion of the Tokyo Olympics.
