Unprecedented player, unprecedented contract: Luca Doncic signed tonight (Sunday to Monday) a Super Max contract in Dallas, under which he will earn $ 207 million for five years starting next season.
Doncic became the first player in NBA history to receive a Super-Max contract while signing a Rocky contract.
Usually only older and more experienced players can earn such sums, but the 22-year-old Doncic has already been selected twice for the top five this season in the NBA, which allowed him to sign the high contract.
In doing so, Doncic ties his future in Dallas, despite rumors over the past year that he will explore his options with richer teams, who could have offered him a collaboration with more stars or a more proven assisting team.
A special delegation of the Mavericks including President Mark Cuban, new coach Jason Kidd and guest of honor Dirk Nowitzki, arrived last night especially in Slovenia to sign Doncic on the contract and be by his side at the festive moment.

"Today I am fulfilling a dream. Basketball has given me a lot, and brought me to amazing places," Doncic told ESPN after signing the precedent-setting contract.
"I'm happy to stay in Dallas, and excited to be a part of the organization."
Doncic even announced that he would expand his investment in the association he founded, which was intended to inject money into the less able in Slovenia and Texas.
