Tennis players sisters Venus and Serena Williams and their American compatriot Sofia Kenin have withdrawn from the Cincinnati Tennis Championships.
"Unfortunately, I will not be playing in Cincinnati next week because I am still recovering from the leg injury I sustained at Wimbledon," the two-time champion said in a statement released by the tournament's organizing committee.
While the tournament's organizing committee did not reveal the reason for the withdrawal of her sister, Venus, who won seven titles in the four Grand Slams, the world number four Kenin announced that she had made a "difficult" decision to withdraw from the Cincinnati Championships.
"I hope to play at the US Open," said Australian Open champion Kenin.
The list of entries includes world number one and Wimbledon champion Ashleigh Barty, four-times Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka and French Open champion Barbora Krichkova.
