Born in Mannheim, who previously played in the DHB youth team, he started his career in the national team in 2005.
His first major tournament is the 2010 European Championship in Austria.
Uwe Gensheimer ends his career in the national handball team
Uwe Gensheimer plays a total of 204 international matches in which he throws 921 goals.
This makes the left wing of the Rhein-Neckar Löwen the third best thrower in handball history.
The 34-year-old has been the captain of the national team since 2014.

His greatest success is winning the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
In the past major handball tournaments, however, the Mannheimer was no longer able to build on this success.
Uwe Gensheimer began his professional club career with the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
From 2016 to 2019 he is under contract with the French top club Paris St. Germain before returning to the Lions in 2019.
