Since 1947, Brentford FC had not played a game in the highest English league. The comeback was successful: Against the 13-time champions FC Arsenal, the promoted team won, an ex-HSV player scored.

Premier League promoted Brentford FC have won their first game in England's top division in 74 years 2-0 (1-0) against Arsenal.

The goals were scored by Sergi Canós (22nd minute) and Christian Nørgaard (73.)

This is how Arsenal FC had not imagined the start of the new season: After a disappointing eighth place in the preseason, the club signed, among other things, the English international Ben White for 60 million euros.

But the hosts were allowed to cheer after 90 minutes.

The team of the Danish trainer Thomas Frank, in which the German U21 European champion Vitaly Janelt was also in the starting line-up, deservedly prevailed in the new stadium.

Canós's 1-0 win in the first half was followed by Nørgaard's 2-0 win in the 73rd minute after a mistake in the Gunners' defense.

However, goalkeeper Bernd Leno was clearly hindered in front of the Dane's header, who played in the U23 of Hamburger SV between 2012 and 2013.

Tomorrow, Saturday, Manchester United (1.30 p.m. against Leeds United), Champions League winners Chelsea FC (4 p.m. against Crystal Palace) and Liverpool FC (6.30 p.m. near Norwich City) start the new season.

Champions Manchester City will play their opening game of the new season at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (5.30 p.m.).
