The Springboks won Saturday against Argentina (32-12) for the first day of the Rugby Championship, and sign a successful return after a 2020 edition missed because of the health crisis.
At the end of this first day, the South Africans dominate the standings with the All Blacks, who largely beat Australia on Saturday in Auckland (57-22).
Despite 10 changes in their starting XV compared to the winning team of the British and Irish Lions, and Herschel Jantjies 'last minute forfeit for hip discomfort, the South Africans took advantage of the Pumas' mistakes in the first half to quickly take off in the match.
Pumas who remained silent
In five minutes, the Boks scored two of their three tries of the match, first on a recovery from Reinach in his own camp (13th, 10-0), then on a superb try from Fassi who recovered a ball, given to the foot by Elton Jantjies, along the sideline to register a second corner try (20th, 15-3).
Jaden Hendrikse, replacing Herschel Jantjies, meanwhile sealed his victory in the last minute of play by scoring his first try with the Boks, for his first cap. Too little present in the opposing 22 meters, the Pumas have not scored a single attempt. The two teams will meet again on August 21 for the second day, still in Port Elizabeth.
