The numbers

  • Paul Pogba is the first Manchester United player ever to cook a quartet in the Premier League.

He is the seventh player in the history of the English Premier League to reach four tackles, after Dennis Bergkamp (1999), Jose Antonio Rice (2006), Emanuel Adebayor (2012), Santi Cassorla (2013) and Harry Kane (2020).

  • In addition, Pogba has already surpassed the number of cooks he has provided throughout last season (three cooks in 26 league appearances).

  • Pogba has cooked up for one of his last three games for Manchester United and the French national team.

  • Bruno Fernandez became the first United player to score a hat-trick in the opening round of the Premier League since he had a coincidence against Birmingham in the 1977/78 season.

  • This is the tenth time a Premier League player has scored a hat-trick in the opening round.

Leeds became the first team to fall victim to it twice, after also conceding a hat-trick from Muhammad Salah against Liverpool in last season's opening round.

  • This is the third time in the history of Manchester United with a hat-trick of one player and at least three assists by another player in a single game.

Previous times: Wayne Rooney with three goals and Ashley Young with three assists against Arsenal in August 2011, Andy Cole with three goals and Ola Gunnar Solskjaer with three assists against Bransley in October 1997.
