Romulo Lukaku is expected to get the number 9 at Chelsea.

The Belgian striker, who last time he was at Chelsea wore the number 18, is expected to get the prestigious number after Tami Avraham completes the move to Rome.

Lukaku, who is expected to play in the next round of the derby against Arsenal, receives a prestigious number, but also one that did not really brighten the face of most of the players who wore it before him at Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mail has compiled a list of Chelsea's 9 numbers since the start of the Premier League era.

There have been a total of 15 numbers since the start of the Premier League era when the most successful was Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.

English striker

Tony Cascarino (1994-1992)

arrived from Celtic in 1992 and immediately received the No. 9 shirt. In his first season he recorded just nine appearances and scored two goals. Despite being not particularly relevant, he maintained the No. 9 shirt in his second season as well and played a lot more, but scored only 4 goals. Chelsea finished in 11th place and Cascarino was thrown to Marseille and never played again in England.

Mark Stein (1996-1994)

who inherited the No. 9 shirt was the South African striker, whom Chelsea managed to acquire even though Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City were also interested in him. It started not bad and Stein scored even in seven games in a row in the 1993/4 season, a record that lasted in the Premier League until Rod van Nistelrooy (and later also Jamie Vardy) broke it. In total, the South African striker scored 25 goals in 63 games for Chelsea, but that happened until the arrival of Mark Hughes, Gianluca Viali and Genfranco Zola, who robbed him of all the minutes.

Gianluca Viali (1999-1996) The

great Italian striker joined the Blues as part of Rod Holitt's revolution at Stamford Bridge. Viali arrived as a former Juventus captain and after winning the Champions League. He scored 11 goals in the first season, 19 in the second and 10 in the third and became a coach in 1998. He retired from the game at the end of 1998/9 to concentrate on his job as a coach and is considered a legend at Chelsea. Altogether one of the 9 most successful numbers, who also won with the team the trophy, the League Cup, the European Supercup and the trophy holding as a player and the trophy and the Community Shield as a coach.

Chris Sutton (2000-1999) The

tall English striker was bought from Blackburn for a very high sum in those days - £ 10 million - and had to step into Viali's big shoes. It was far from happening and Sutton scored just one league goal. He had two more goals, One against Skonto Riga in the Champions League qualifiers and one in the cup against Hull City. After one season he was sold to Celtic for £ 6 million.

Perhaps the most successful number 9 of them all.

Dutch striker

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (2004-2000)

was bought for £ 15m from Atletico Madrid and excelled in his four years at Chelsea after already scoring in his debut. In his first season he scored 26 goals and in that he added 29 and became a fan favorite. his last Chelsea, Haslbiink became dominant as a result of reliance on the cheap. even so, the Dutch scored 15 goals. in 2004, he moved to Middlesbrough.

Mateja Kežman (2005-2004)

during the first championship under Roman Abramovich was also a pioneer in Serbian , Who arrived after tearing up the Dutch league in the PSV Eindhoven uniform, despite which Kazman scored just 4 goals in 25 league appearances for Chelsea and moved to Atletico Madrid after one season.

Number 9 for the brake.

Hernan Crespo (2006-2005) The

Argentine scored 13 goals in his only season at Chelsea and helped the team to another championship.

Despite this, his family did not adapt to London and Chelsea fans always felt they did not see the best of him on the team.

At the end of the season he was loaned to Inter and did not return to Chelsea.

Khalid Bulgraz (2007-2006) The

one who inherited the number 9 shirt from Crespo was none other than the brake that came from Hamburg for £ 8.5 million. And that's what Bulkharuz got.

Lasted only one season.

Steve Sidwell (2008-2007)

After the three previous ones in the number lasted one year each, the redheaded relationship also ended its part in the club after only a year.

Sidwell joined Merding and did not really prove himself throughout his time at Chelsea.

He made 25 appearances in all competitions, but many of them as a substitute and eventually moved to Aston Villa.

Franco Di Santo (2009-2008)

Another number 9 that lasted only one year.

Franco Di Santo was a total of 19 years old when he got the number 9 at Chelsea and the only season he was there he was mostly a substitute.

In all, he made 16 appearances, eight in the league and eight more in the trophies and failed to score a single goal.

He eventually moved to Blackburn on loan and then to Wigan.

The first name that comes to mind when you think of Curse No. 9. Torres (Photo: GettyImages)

Fernando Torres (2014-2011)

one of the players who had around them the highest expectations in history perhaps. Liverpool's great Spanish striker was bought for £ 50 million in what then became the sixth most expensive purchase in the history of football. However, when talking about the number 9 curse at Chelsea, we are talking first about Torres. January 27 and in total found the net after 903 minutes without a conquest in his new team. The situation has not improved since. Goals and 5 more in the one that followed. He was then loaned to Milan and his career slowly waned.

Radamel Falcao (2016-2015)

Another of the strikers who lasted just one season at Chelsea.

Falcao arrived with high expectations on loan from Monaco with an option to purchase after one season.

In the French league he scored endlessly, but in England things went less.

He was loaned out to Manchester United in 2014 and was far from impressive there.

Chelsea decided to give him a chance anyway and he made 10 league appearances and scored just one goal.

At the end of that season he was honorably sent back to Monaco.

No. 29 did not help either.

Murata (Photo: GettyImages, Marc Atkins)

Albero Murata (2019-2017) The

Spanish striker arrived at Chelsea with a lot of noise and ringing for 66 million euros from Real Madrid and received the number 9. Murata's ability was so disappointing that at one point he even believed in cursing the numbers 9 at Chelsea and changed the number to -29. It also didn’t really help and in his first season he scored 15 goals in all competitions and in the second just 9 before moving to Atletico Madrid.

Gonzalo Higuain (2019) is

not much remembered now, but the Argentine striker managed to visit Stamford Bridge as well. It was at a time when Chelsea were unable to sign a striker and loaned him out from AC Milan for a half-season on 23 January 2019. Maurizio Sari actually went to sleep and is familiar to him after coaching Higuain at Napoli in 2015/16. Higuain arrived not so fit and did not fit the pace of the Premier League. In total he scored 5 goals in 18 games, but showed very weak ability and did not really fit into the team.

Maybe in Rome he will be more lucky.

Abraham (Photo: AP, Dave Thompson)

Tammy Avraham (2019 - to date)

Romulo Lukaku's signing for Chelsea marked the 23-year-old striker's way out.

Abraham, who showed good ability in his two seasons as a loanee for the Aston Villa and Bristol City championships and scored 52 goals, did not really impress Thomas Tuchel who did not count him particularly since arriving in January and gave him a total of seven appearances.

Now Abraham is on his way to Rome.
