Al-Jalaa team won the Republic Cup Basketball Championship by defeating the army with a score of 59-44 points in the final match that brought them together today at Al-Fayhaa Sports Hall in Damascus.
The first quarter ended with Al-Jalaa advancing 20-9 points, while the army advanced in the second quarter with a score of 16-12 points, and the third quarter ended in favor of Al-Jalaa 16-7 points. Despite the army’s advance in the fourth quarter 12-11 points, the match ended with Al-Jalaa winning with a score of 59-44 points .
Al-Galaa qualified for the final by defeating Al-Thawra in the first leg matches in the semi-finals, respectively, with 86-64 points and 87-65 points.
As for Al-Jaish, they needed a play-off with Al-Nawair to reach the final. In the first leg of the semi-finals, Al-Nawaeer won 58-53 points, while the return match ended with Al-Jaish winning 67-64 points. With a difference of three points, Al-Jaish won the play-off match 70-67 points.
It is noteworthy that Al-Jaish is the title holder of the previous edition 2019 after defeating Al-Wathba with a score of 81-59 points in the final match.
