The Paralympics, the Olympic Games for disabled athletes, will take place from August 24th to September 5th.

For a judoka *, the games should already be over shortly after arrival.

Olympia: Paralympics deliver first scandal - judoka breaks a rib guard

A Georgian judoka was apparently arrested ahead of the Tokyo Paralympic Games.

The 34-year-old is said to have broken a rib in a security guard in the quarantine hotel at Haneda Airport on Thursday by “jumping at him and knocking him to the ground,” said a police spokesman for the French news agency AFP.

The Georgian team was quarantined after entering the country because of a positive test result.

According to local media, the team is said to have celebrated loudly in the quarantine hotel.

Apparently, when a security guard tried to issue a warning, the incident occurred.

As the Japanese TV broadcaster TBS reported on Monday, the disabled athlete, who is housed in a quarantine hotel, is said to have pushed the security guard under the influence of alcohol and broke his rib in the process.

The police were then alerted, it said.

Olympia: Judoka is threatened with exclusion from Paralympics

The National Olympic Committee of Georgia had confirmed the "dishonorable incident" to the broadcaster, it said.

There was initially no official reaction from the organizers and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

According to information from local media, the athlete concerned should be excluded from the games and sent home.

In the Olympic village, Australian athletes caused devastation shortly before their departure and also rioted on the return flight.

On the other hand, pentathlete Annika Schleu caused a tangible scandal that heated up the minds for days afterwards - the German animal welfare association has now filed a criminal complaint.
