With great will and high morale, the participants in the Wounded Al-Watan Sports Games are looking forward to prove their worth and superiority as on the battlefield, so that this session will be the beginning of a new experience in their lives with the approach of its competitions on the twentieth of this month.
Course Secretary Omar Ashour said in a statement to SANA’s sports representative: “We selected sports talents from the wounded from different governorates and conducted a training camp for them in Damascus, during which focus was placed on raising the skill level of the participants, under the supervision of specialized trainers. A good indicator of the emergence of new talents capable of representing Syria in international forums, after they have been properly prepared.”
Ashour added: These games were chosen within the tournament as a starting point because they do not require those complications, with a focus on choosing basketball as a team game that gives participants a social atmosphere of cooperation and harmony with the possibility of expansion and the introduction of new games in the coming period.
A number of the wounded participants expressed their happiness in holding this course for the first time, as it gave them an opportunity to communicate with the wounded from other governorates within a distinct social atmosphere, in addition to being an opportunity to compete and challenge, expressing their willingness to continue the training in order to further develop their level to participate in foreign tournaments and raise the nation's flag in international forums.
The wounded army, allied forces and internal security forces who were injured during the battles to defend the homeland will participate in the course, as they compete in swimming games, table tennis, basketball, badminton, athletics and physical strength games in the halls and stadiums of Al-Assad Sports City in Lattakia.
