Freiburg lets playmaker Santamaria go
After just one year, SC Freiburg surprisingly loses its central midfielder Baptiste Santamaria. The Frenchman is moving to Ligue 1 club Stade Rennes, the club announced. The Freiburg team did not provide any information on the amount of the transfer fee. The 26-year-old came to Freiburg from the French club SCO Angers in the summer of 2020, with a transfer fee of around ten million euros, he became the record purchase for the southern Baden club. He completed 33 competitive games for Freiburg.
"Baptiste approached us at relatively short notice with the wish to be able to move back to the French homeland with his family," said SC sports director Jochen Saier.
"After a difficult overall assessment, we decided to make the transfer possible due to his personal situation and a coherent financial framework." The club is already looking for a replacement and is "in final talks with a possible access," Saier said.
Tammy Abraham moves to Rome
He is considered one of the greatest talented strikers in England, but at Chelsea there was no place for Tammy Abraham at the latest after the signing of Romelu Lukaku.
Now the exit of the 23-year-old is perfect: Abraham will play in the future at AS Roma, trained by José Mourinho.
This was announced by the Serie A club.
Abraham costs the Roma a transfer fee of 40 million euros, he signed a five-year contract until 2026.
Last season, the attacker scored twelve goals and six assists in 32 competitive appearances.
After the coach change in London, Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard, but Abraham was rarely used.
According to matching media reports, Chelsea should have a buyback option of 80 million euros from 2023.

Leipziger Sørloth an option near Marseille
The traditional French club Olympique Marseille is apparently interested in Alexander Sørloth from RB Leipzig.
The Norwegian international striker has not been able to assert himself at the Bundesliga club and is to be sold.
According to a report in the sports daily "L'Équipe", the 25-year-old is a serious candidate for Marseille President Pablo Longoria, should one even be able to sell attacker Dario Benedetto to Betis Sevilla.
Sørloth moved from Crystal Palace to Leipzig in the summer of 2020 for 20 million euros and was to inherit from Timo Werner there.
However, the Norwegian only scored five goals in 29 Bundesliga games and only started 13 times.
Sørloth has not even been used this season.
He is currently absent from the illness.
