SV Walpertskirchen: Two places need to be renovated

There are new elections and familiar faces in the Walpertskirchen tennis department.

Walpertskirchen - After one and a half exciting and somewhat unusual years, the general meeting of the tennis department of SV Walpertskirchen could finally take place.

Both the board of directors and the members of the SVW had to wait a long time for the meeting.

After the corona-related cancellation last year, the time had come.

At the sports home, 26 excited members listened to the statements of the board and discussed diligently.

Markus Sedlmeier, the chairman of the main association, also paid a visit.

“In the last year and a half, with the constantly changing requirements and the lack of planning security, a lot has changed,” said department head Bernhard Suchy.

At the same time, he thanked all supporters who kept the club going even in the difficult phase.

Thanks also went to Sedlmeier for the pleasant cooperation.

During the evening, members received a lot of positive news.

Cashier Otto Schmalzl was able to report a small profit despite some unexpected expenses such as the repair of the water pump and the purchase of a new dishwasher.

The drinks machine once again contributed to this.

Sports warden Verena Suchy and youth warden Anna Kellner reported that the number of members has been kept constant since 2019. The increasing number of young members is encouraging. In 2021, a total of ten teams took part in the game, including six youth teams. The highlights were the promotion of the first men's team to the district league and the U 10 championship in midcourt, both of which remained unbeaten.

Under the impression of this positive news, the members very quickly came to an agreement in the elections: The previous board of directors is entering another term of office. Bernhard Suchy remains the department head, Christian Baumann his deputy. Verena Suchy will remain on the board as sports warden, as will Anna Kellner and Veronika Sigmund as youth warden. Treasurer Otto Schmalzl and secretary Rainer Gabriel complete the team.

Finally, Bernhard Suchy had an important topic in his luggage with the necessary renovation of the two front tennis courts that had to be discussed with the members.

Since the pitches have not been completely renovated since 1977 and the cost of maintenance is increasing every year, a renovation of the pitches will be necessary in the near future.

The favorite is a more easy-care variant with granules.

The members asked to test the surface beforehand on another system, which the department management would like to make possible.
