PSG: for the moment, the Spaniards are deprived of Messi's matches on TV

Ligue 1 has no official broadcaster beyond the Pyrenees. A frustrating situation for former Argentina fans. But

La Liga has lost two of its stars, recruited in a few weeks by PSG.

But it is the whole of Spain that can no longer benefit from it.

For the current season, Ligue 1 is currently not broadcast beyond the Pyrenees.

A tense point for the fans of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, the two former captains of the two most important clubs in the kingdom, Barça and Real Madrid.

"The most interesting Ligue 1 in history begins without a broadcaster in Spain," noted the local 20-minute site, on the eve of PSG's first outing at home against Strasbourg (4-2).

From 2018 to 2021, a usual three-season cycle, the Spanish operator Telefonica broadcast the matches of the French Championship.

But the agreement therefore ended at the beginning of the summer.

And, since then, no broadcaster has obtained the lot of the call for tenders of the Professional Football League (LFP), which concluded on July 31.

As indicated by 20 minutes, Amazon, Discovery and DAZN took part in this call for tenders without reaching the amounts hoped for by the LFP.

On the other hand, Telefonica, Canal +, BeIN Sports or Mediapro did not wish to submit a proposal.

Football fans worry

An exceptional situation since Spain is one of the only territories in the world not to offer Ligue 1 when an Australian can watch it on BeIN Sports or TV5 Monde.

But the situation could change soon.

The LFP is currently negotiating with operators and finding a solution for an important European territory for the image of the French Championship, in search of a more important place alongside the Liga, the Premier League, the Serie A or the Bundesliga.

In Europe, Belgium, Sweden or Norway do not benefit from L1 either.

Messi, Ramos, Neymar, Navas, Hakimi, Di Maria, Herrera, Sarabia… The capital club is however full of players who have passed through Spain and whom the public knows from near or far.

And even if the stars are not yet on the pitch, football fans are worried and must fall back on other solutions, such as streaming platforms.

A shortfall for the LFP as one of the best players in history arrives from Barcelona after 21 years in Catalonia.

She hopes to be able to settle these rights issues in the coming weeks, before Lionel Messi officially starts with PSG.

Otherwise, the Spaniards will have to be satisfied with the meetings of the Argentine ... in the Champions League.
