The second day was marked by the defeats, this Saturday, of Dortmund and Mönchengladbach. The Wolves of Wolfsburg take the lead in the standings after their 2-1 victory over Hertha.

Haaland mute, Dortmund defeated: the BVB lost (2-1) Saturday in Freiburg for the first time in the German league season, from the second day, with a classification provisionally dominated by Wolfsburg, winner of Hertha in Berlin 2-1.

After a first stoppage against Bayern on Tuesday in the German Supercup and a 3-1 defeat, BVB had to react to confirm their brilliant start to the season, with their 5-2 opening victory against Frankfurt.

Haaland weaned from the ball

It did not happen. Ineffective in the opposing 30 meters, the Yellow and Black got entangled in the opposing defense, making a series of bad choices, hampered by the engagement of Friborg. Coach Marco Rose had yet lined up an impressive offensive armada with the Reus-Haaland-Malen trio, supported on the wings by Reyna and Bellingham. But it was the Black Forest club that opened the scoring in the sixth minute with a free kick from around thirty meters. After a foul by Felix Passlack, struggling since the start of the season, the Italo-German Vincenzo Grifo sent a splendid shot, which hit the post before crossing the line.

With little offensive side and less creative midfielders, Dortmund came up against the defense of Freiburg, star striker Erling Haaland touching very few balls.

On a counter, Freiburg even doubled the lead thanks to a half-volley from its Hungarian international Roland Sallai, headed by Lucas Holler (53rd).

The BVB then gradually increased in power, rewarded with a goal against his camp from Yannick Keitel, well hampered by Jude Bellingham, the most prominent player next to Borussia (59th).

"

We have to optimize certain actions (...), sometimes our passes were too slow, with too much contact

", regretted after the match Marco Rose, who is eager to recover defenders Mats Hummels and Dan-Axel Zagadou, injured and absent.

Wolfsburg temporarily took control of the championship thanks to its victory on the ground of Hertha Berlin (2-1), new red lantern with zero points.

Thuram hit, Leverkusen sunk

The shock of the day between Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach, two contenders for qualification in C1, turned clearly to the advantage of the locals, who returned to second place in the standings after this 4-0 victory in a meeting one way where the score could have been heavier.

Former Parisians Mitchel Bakker and Moussa Diaby had a very good match, although the first caused a penalty stopped by Hradecky (43rd).

The Dutchman, transferred from Paris SG this summer, is behind the first goal: after a strike with his left foot outside the area on the right post, the ball returned to the leg of the unfortunate goalkeeper Yann Sommer, before dying at the bottom of the net (3rd).

Diaby then served the Czech Patrik Schick, co-best of the last Euro (8th), then Bakker launched the Frenchman, whose strike was deflected by Bensebaini (55th), before Nadiem Amiri weighed down the mark (87th) .

Black day for the "Colts", who lost the French international Marcus Thuram, released in the 20th minute, hit in the right knee after a shock with an opposing defender.

Bayern on track Sunday

In the other matches, the promoted Bochum beat Mainz 2-0, the other promoted Greuther Fürth took his first point of the season against Arminia Bielefeld 1-1 while Eintracht Frankfurt and Augsburg parted ways on a goalless draw. Sunday, Hoffenheim and Bayern will respectively host Union Berlin and Cologne, while on Friday, RB Leipzig swept Stuttgart 4-0 at the start of the second day.
