If the referee warned the first time that the match could be stopped, the throwing of projectiles continued until they hit Payet ten minutes from time.
The Marseille number 10 then tripped by returning the projectile to the stands.
This reaction from the OM player provoked the anger of the supporters who rushed to the pitch.
There followed clashes between staff, players and supporters.
