Terrier, the man of the derby
As in April, Martin Terrier offered the victory to Rennes in the derby against Nantes (1-0). Little in sight during the meeting, his movements however hampered the Canaries. And it is on one of his movements between the lines that the ex-Lyonnais made the difference. Served by Santamaria and strangely alone at twenty meters, Terrier was able to turn around and align Lafont with a powerful strike (58th). Enough to make the difference in this match and become a little more, the man of this derby.
Rennes' solidity
Not flamboyant in the game, the SRFC did the job on both sides of the field.
Rather effective offensively, Rennes were even more effective defensively.
Aguerd and Badé were intractable with twelve duels disputed and ten won.
But the laterals were not left out.
Traore held the right lane perfectly, except for an acceleration from Simon in the first act, and Meling was devilishly efficient on the left side.
Good job.
Flops
Nantes without idea offensively
Obviously, the absences of Kolo Muani and Coulibaly weighed in this match. But the players lined up could (should?) Have done better. Renaud Emond was literally transparent with eleven balls touched in 67 minutes. Simon, who came out injured at the break, managed to make a difference in the first act. But it was way too little. Just like the performance of Ludovic Blas. The attacking midfielder found the bar on his shot, after half an hour of play, and then that's it. In 90 minutes, FCN only shot four times on goal for a shot on target. Insufficient at this level.
Lafont not brilliant on goal
The Nantes captain was rather solid throughout the game but on Martin Terrier's strike, the Canaries goalkeeper can surely do better. First of all, it is important to specify that his defense does not help him by not going out on the Breton striker. Then, Lafont deflects Terrier's shot on his post, before the ball crosses the line, but his hand is not firm enough to prevent the goal and at the sight of the slowdowns, this observation is confirmed.
