French football is in turmoil after last night's (Sunday) explosion between Nice and Marseille in the second round.
As you may recall, fans of the home team threw bottles at the pitch and one of them hit Marseille player, Dimitri Payet.
The contact did not remain obligated and threw him back into the stands and at this point the situation got out of hand.
Nice fans burst onto the pitch and tried to attack the rival players, who fought back a hair-raising war.
Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli attacked a fan, objects were thrown everywhere and after the commotion calmed down, the visiting players refused to return to play.
Marseille president Pablo Longoria shouted in the players' tunnel: "We will not return to play! We will not return!"
And according to reports, the club members had a hard time reassuring coach Sampaoli.

"Unacceptable," read the headline in L'Equipe and Longoria, saying: "The league manager has determined that we should return to play, but we have decided to keep the players safe. We were attacked and there were no guarantees for our safety. What happened today is unacceptable. It must be Precedent before similar cases. "
Last season, Marseille player Valentin Ronzier was hit by a bottle thrown at him from the stands of Montpellier fans, but after a break of about 10 minutes, the game resumed. Last night at the club they mentioned the same case over and over again and explained: So we messed up, this time not.
Nice president Jean-Pierre River criticized Marseille's decision: "It disappoints me that the game ended like this. Everyone saw what happened, we can not deny that bottles were thrown, but what ignited the event were two Marseille players throwing bottles back into the stands. I think "Marseille's security guards should not get on the pitch and hurt our players. I spoke to our fans and they assured me that they would allow the game to end, but Marseille hid behind the incident in Montpellier."

Both teams as mentioned claim that their players were attacked.
According to Nice, Marseille security personnel attacked Jean-Clair Tudibo and Jatin Claubert during the riot, while Marseille players posted pictures of themselves with strangulation marks, and red marks of blows to the neck and back.
Also, Marseille know that at least under the dry constitution, it is likely to suffer a 3-0 technical loss, given the fact that after the turmoil subsided the referee ordered a resumption of the game, but Marseille refused to return to the pitch, despite attempts at persuasion.
Marseille have made it clear that they will appeal this decision if it is indeed made.
Sampaoli and his assistant are also expected to be punished, against the background of their documentation raging and aggressively confronting Nice fans.
