It was about Joshua Kimmich's contract extension, then the whistles against Bayern's Leroy Sané were also on the agenda: Kimmich and the Bayern bosses protected the offensive player - and demanded performance.

Bayern Munich's sports director Hasan Salihamidzic sharply condemned the whistles against national soccer player Leroy Sané in their home win against 1. FC Köln and described them as unacceptable.

“Sure, Leroy wasn't playing a huge game.

But we always expect the players to be supported by our fans.

We cannot let a single one whistle in the Allianz Arena.

That doesn't work at all, ”said Salihamidzic at a press conference on Joshua Kimmich's long-term contract extension.

"We will always protect Leroy," said the sports director.

The 25-year-old Sané is an ambitious professional and wants to win titles with FC Bayern.

Bayern boss Oliver Kahn agreed with Salihamidzic's words.

The former goalkeeper, who recalled whistles against himself in the early days at Bayern, also remarked: "It's up to Leroy to put it away." The club's task is to "see that Leroy performs here."

But the player must also want that.

Team-mate Kimmich described the whistles against Sané and the malicious applause when he was substituted for the break on Sunday as "cheeky and bitter".

He found the spectator behavior "not okay", even if it was only a part of the fans.

Sané was from Manchester City to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2020, the transfer fee for the club's then dream player is said to have been 60 million euros.

The club wanted to sign Sané a year earlier, but then he tore his cruciate ligament.

In the last Bundesliga season, Sané was involved in 16 goals (ten assists, six goals) out of a total of 99 goals scored by the Munich team.
