Just crowned with a title of Olympic vice-champion, Vincent Collet (58), will take up a new challenge on the national scene.
After passing through Le Mans (2000-2008), ASVEL (2008-2010) and SIG Strasbourg (2011-2020), the coach of the French team is committed for two seasons with the Metropolitans 92.
In decline for a few seasons and a disappointing 6th place last season, the former Paris-Levallois club hopes to relaunch its project as a major player in French basketball with the appointment of Vincent Collet as coach.
He will find at his side Alain Weisz, of whom he had been the assistant in the French team in 2001.
Collet will have an interesting workforce with in particular the leader David Michineau (11 pts, 2.9 assists and 2 rebounds) and the new recruit Jordan Mcrae, NBA champion in 2016.
In addition to national competitions, the European champion coach in 2013 will have to fight on the European stage of the Eurocup. His experience as champion of France (2006) will be capital in the quest for the first title of the Ile-de-France club since 1997. At the same time, Vincent Collet should keep his double cap as coach-coach since the Federation announced in a press release on Wednesday its extension until the Paris Games in 2024.
