They were always close, but the Bundesliga title for the Peitinger Stockschützen has not yet worked out.

In the recent final four, however, the Peitinger could not be stopped.

But the glorious winners did without the extensive jubilee celebration.

Peiting / Passau - Michael Lindner and his colleagues from TSV Peiting were very happy.

But the glorious winners did without the extensive jubilee celebration.

The final four tournament for the championship title in the 1st Bundesliga had exhausted the troops.

"It was a four-hour nerve battle," reported Lindner.

"I don't need much after something like that."

The fellow campaigners were also more interested in a quick trip home.

But it is also clear: “The party has just been postponed,” says the 23-year-old physics student.

Because the men's team of TSV Peiting had achieved something special in the line-up with Lindner, Mathias Adler, Thomas and Martin Baumgartner and Christopher Schwaiger.

In the semifinals victory against long-term rivals EC Passau-Neustift

For the first time since the Bundesliga Süd, the strongest season in Germany, took place in a special format with a preliminary round and subsequent knockout games, TSV Peiting won the title. "This is a huge success for us," emphasizes Lindner. The team from the Pfaffenwinkel would have liked to win in the previous years (the competition was canceled in 2020 due to Corona). But somehow it didn't work out. “The last bit of consistency was missing,” says Lindner. This time the Peitinger could not be stopped. That was true not only for the Final Four tournament, but for the entire season. On the way to the finals, the Peitinger had only lost one preliminary round game - the defeat was ultimately meaningless. Only the EC Lampoding was better, which once had to be content with a draw.

In the final four tournament, the semifinals were against the series champions EC Passau-Neustift.

The hosts had often proven to be a stumbling block for the Peitinger.

"It's never easy against Passau," said Lindner.

However, the hosts were no longer as well positioned as they were before.

The initial nervousness "was gone quickly", reported the Peitinger.

With 2: 0 (15: 11/14: 10) the Upper Bavaria prevailed, whereby it was always up to the sixth turn in both rounds.

In the final, the Peitinger met TSV Hartpenning, which has the exceptional player Stefan Zellermayer in its ranks. Nevertheless, the Pfaffenwinkler were optimistic, because the final four was held in the smaller stock sport hall in Neustift. The ground there consists of asphalt - a surface that the people of Peitingen and their Austrian teammates (Adler, Schwaiger) know well from their facilities at home. The Hartpenninger, on the other hand, train paving stones at home. The topping “benefited us,” said Lindner.

Peiting won the first two rounds (14: 10/13: 11). Then the Hartpenninger changed and promptly got the third round (9: 8). But the Peitinger were not put off by this. In the fourth round, "we played almost flawlessly," reported Lindner. In the fourth bend the TSV triumphed with a seven, with 13: 9 the team made the victory perfect.

Michael Lindner has already collected various titles in the team as well as in the individual, including at international championships. Most recently, he won gold in a team game with the German U23 national team at the 2020 World Cup in Regen. The success now in the Bundesliga was now in the men's class. “That has a different status,” he emphasizes. He doesn't have a preference for ice or summer tracks: “I really don't care.” When the summer season draws to a close, he looks forward to stick shooting on ice. In spring it is the other way around, then he looks forward to the game on the summer railways. Before we go on the ice, there is still an important tournament to be played: the German championship on September 18 in Straßkirchen. There it is also against clubs from the other regions. The Peitinger are “one of the favorites”, says Lindner. The surface at the venue “is similar to that in Passau” - good prerequisites for another title. In 2019, the Peitinger came third.
